  • 1959 - Consolidation forms Castle High School

    1959 - John Wittenbraker is hired as the first Castle High School Band Director and composes the Castle High School Fight Song

  • 1964 - Jack Schernekau is hired and John Wittenbraker moves on to be a CHS counselor and ultimately head principal

  • 1971 - Gary Ahrens is hired in a new (second) position as the first Assistant Director

    1974 - Tom Listenfelt is hired as Assistant Director, Gary Ahrens moves to South Spencer

    1975 - Castle High School opens at current location, former building becomes Castle Junior High School

    1978 - Jerry Reese is hired in a new (third) position to work full time at Castle Junior High School

  • 1983 - The Castle Marching Knights make their first appearance in ISSMA State Marching Band Finals and place 7th

    1985 - Jerry Reese becomes Castle High School director and Jack Schernekau and Tom Listenfelt move to Castle Junior High as well as teaching 6th grade band in all feeder elementary schools

    1988 - Castle makes their first appearance in ISSMA State Concert Band Finals and place 10th - The Castle Marching Knights make their first appearance in ISSMA State Marching Band Finals and place 7th

  • 1993 - Tom Dean is hired in a new (fourth) position as Castle HS Assistant Director

    1994 - Jack Schernekau retires after 29 years at Castle, Glenn Northern is hired as the Castle HS Assistant Director, Tom Dean becomes CHS Head Director, Jerry Reese moves to Castle Junior HS

  • 2001 - Mark Eifler is hired as Castle HS Assistant Director, Glenn Northern moves to Penn HS

    2001 - Castle wins their 1st BOA Class Champions (Louisville)

    2004 - Castle moves in to current band room

    2005 - Castle places highest ever at ISSMA State Marching Band Finals (2nd)

    2006 - Tom Listenfelt retires after 32 years at Castle, Faril Bunner is hired as CHS Head Director, Tom Dean moves to Castle Junior HS, Mark Eifler becomes CHS Head Director

    2009 - Castle Junior High School is split into Castle North Middle School and opens a new middle school at Castle South and Jerry Reese moves to Castle South MS

  • 2013 - Jerry Reese retires after 35 years at Castle, Steve Dailey is hired to Castle North MS, Faril Bunner moves to Castle South MS, and Tom Dean moves back to Castle HS

    2014 - Castle wins their 1st BOA Regional Grand Championship (Clarksville)

    2016 - Faril Bunner moves to an administrative position, Greg Keith is hired at Castle South

    2016 - Castle makes first appearance at BOA Grand Nationals Finals (10th)

    2016 - Castle is awarded the Sudler Sheild

    2017 - Steve Daily moves to Baylor University, John Miller is hired at Castle North MS

    2017 - Castle ties best placement in ISSMA Marching Band Finals (2nd)

    2017 - Castle performs in BOA Grand National Finals (8th) and wins Class 3A National Champions

    2018 - Greg Keith leaves Castle South MS, Jason Pruden is hired

  • 2020 - Mark Eifler retires after 19 years at Castle HS and Ethan Wilkinson is hired

    2021 - David Wantland is hired in a new (fifth) position at Castle North MS

    2022 - Castle places highest ever in ISSMA Concert Band State Finals (2nd)

    2022 - Tom Dean retires after 29 years at Castle and Grant Winternheimer is hired

    2022 - Castle performs in BOA Grand National Finals (12th) and is selected to perform in the Rose Parade

    2023 - Nikki Miller is hired in a new (sixth) position at Castle HS

    2024 - The Castle Marching Knights performed in the Rose Parade in Pasedena, California

    2024 - Castle 12 o’clock Jazz Band is selected to perform at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic
